Ken Bower Scholarship
Ken Bower, associate professor in the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education at the College of Charleston, died in 2002. During his career, he was avidly committed to public school students and the adults who work with them. When the Teacher Cadet Program began in 1986, Dr. Bower was asked to develop the first, full-scale curriculum.

Who Can Apply
High school seniors who are currently participating in or have successfully participated in the Teacher Cadet Program during their junior or senior year and plan to attend a South Carolina college or university to become a teacher are encouraged to apply.
Selection Criteria
Application Window
The application opens on February 1, 2025.
Applications must be completed and received no later than 11:59 p.m. on March 31, 2025.
Announcement
The selected scholarship recipients will be announced in April by letter.
Disbursement of Funds
The scholarship funds will be disbursed directly to the college/university by August of each year.

- 20% - Activities: school, community, employment
- 40% - Written expression and commitment
- 20% - Teacher recommendations
